ROW 3
1
5/5/11: T shape being developed. Lichen observed on the left. 3 main cordons being developed. Left cordon is young, but has many spurs and buds at the very end of the cordon. There is a larger main cordon from about 2" in that ultimately goes right with many canes and buds and one being tied into the top wire. Single vine. 3rd shoot that truly goes right has buds at the end but is not trained to the wire. Potential to trim the left larger cordon that goes right to train the T shape.
2
5/5/11: Dual trunk with old training from the wooden stake. Left trunk ultimately goes right, right trunk ultimately goes left. Both are up to the top wire. Lichen on the left trunk near the top. Left trunk (right cordon) has two main cordons coming from it. The left cordon (from right trunk) is tied to top wire and shoots up. Right cordon is very short with single cane & spur with about 10 buds. The left cordon (right trunk) is a mess, lots of canes and spurs but none trained. There is a larger cordon coming from the left but untrainined and shooting right. Right shoot actually goes under the wire and then wraps around and shoots right with good single spur and cane.
3
5/5/11: Single trunk but smaller growth comes from the right of the base trained to the middle wire. At the end of the shorter growth it has 3 or 4 spurs with moderate buds. Right growth is tied to the middle wire. Main trunk is grown up to top wire. 3 main cordons but all relatively small. Left cordon is tied to the wire, two others shooting to the right. Left cordon has smaller growth and untrained, some buds. Right majhor cordon is tied to the top wire, with knotty growth. The second cordon (cane) to the right is merely a shoot but also tied to the top wire. Woudl be best to develop this cane and trip the right major.
4
5/5/11: Single trunk. somewhat T shape at the top wire. Left cordon observed lichen. Right cordon is more of a shoot. Left cordon two large cordons coming from it. very knotty. Very left cordon has canes and buds, but random. Left shoot has spur at the end, then about 8 buds. Left nearest cordon goes straight up, then knotty. Lots of development with topmost cane having 11 buds. Right cordon trained on wire, end is tied to top wire.
5
5/5/11: Appears to be two trunks independent from base. Right trunk twists over left (larger) trunk then trained on lower wire with good cane and bud development. Left trunk develops to top wire then becomes T shape. Left cordon good cane and spur development. Left most cane tied to top wire. Right cordon splits into two canes and both are tied to top wire. Both have good spur and cane development. Next year should choose one and train.
6 (yellow)
5/5/11: Very small base... string tied to try and train development to lower wire. BAse is thick, at peak develops into spur on left then cane on right. Major pruning just below. About 4" shy of first wire from cane.
7
5/5/11: Appears to be two trunk development (or one that has growth from right). Right growth shoots left and is tied to lower wire. Left lower growth has three major growths, each with buds, right most development crosses over laft growth nearlower wire. Near the same spot by the lower wire there is a shoot going left then turning right following the trunk then ultimately shooting right, this cane is tied to the top wire and about 4'! On the main trunk just below te wire is a cane shooting far left, extending to the left post and is tied to the top wire. The main trunk reaches the top wire and the left cordon is tied to the top with thick but short development to the left, forking at the end. The right cordon is thick but very small.
8
5/5/11: Single trunk but dual growth. Smaller growth climbs to first wire and ultimately shoots left (tied to lower wire). There is a small cane from the other trunk area shooting left. 1/2 way between middle and top wire is a cordon to the right, but stopping and shooting straight up. Cane going straight up reached top wire. Main trunk growth reaches top wire and extends into a T shape (tied at the middle of the trunk) Right cordon is knotty, but some ane adn spur development. Left cordon has three prings, one shooting below wire, then leftmost are two each with about 5 buds.
9
5/5/11: Appears to be dual trunk. This is the tomato plant! Right most trunk from main reached middle wire with a large devleopment to the right from the base. Single cane from this trunk shoots left reaching lower wire. Main trunk has cane coming from just above lower wire, reaching left. Rest of the trunk goes up, becoming very knotty before the top wire. Cordon to the right is tied to the top wire, but little to account for. left growth on top wire is undeveloped with random canes growing. on the left there is a larger cordon with a cane developing, but nothing of substance. Buds are to the left, but no trained development - though could develop.
10
5/5/11: Single trunk growth to top wire. Just below top wire is a cane that twists forward then grows up. There is a slight T shape at the top wite with left cordon being the strongest. Left cordon twists around top wire and displays good cane and spur development. Right cane is little to look at, no trained development, mostly shooting up.
11
5/5/11: Two independent trunks. The trunk in front is trained witih the wood, about 8" up is a cane with good devlopemnt to the right. The back trunk growth temds to grow to the right? Also with a cane shooting up from the lower base. The right trunk growth levels off below top wire then reaches and extends to top wire where it is tied. The main trunk growth does develop into a T shape is left cordon reaching top wire with single supr and muiltple buds. ?? Some left cane is tied to top wire? The other right cordon is small to develop but does extedn past top wire.
12
5/5/11: Right cordon is tied to top wire. Left cordon is also teid to top wire but is very undeveloped. There is another growth on the right cordon but doesnt reach the top wire. Trunk has main trunk but also a smaller right development reaching the lower wire with good canes. About 1/2 way up on the main trunk is a cane shooting left that crosses the top wire.
13
5/5/11: Single trunk but overall a smaller vine. About 8" up is a cane that was trimmed back to 6 buds. The rest of the trunk reaches the middle wire where is develops into a reverse L shape. The left cordon has good devleopment and is tied to the lower wire, at the very end is a shoot with a few buds looking up. The right/upward cordon ultimately sends a cane that reaches the top wire and is tied to the left.
14
5/5/11: Dual trunk - not sure what is going on up to lower wire, some canes. Growth to top wire forms a v shape with a rigt cordon reaching above the top wire and then a cane shooting left. Rigth growth goes beyond post with two longer canes both developing over top wire.
15
5/5/11: Single trunk. Small growth to the left from teh trunk, looks like it could be completely trummed back. Larger trunk growth goes to top wire. Spliuts just before top wire then both shoot right. Two cordons go to right, then one reaches back to left with strong cnae nad some spur development. Right cordon / cnae growth is modest but better developed, though is the smaller of the two.
16
5/5/11: Single trunk, this is the bird nest vine. Just below lower wire is cane shooting left. Main growth reaches top wire then goes nuts. Left development actually comes from the right but is sound with good cordon devleopming. Teh right is messily developed but continues past the post. Lots of buds, canes and spurs.
