Plant 1: Cayuga
8/21/11: Leaves eaten fairly badly, but growth almost to middle wire with help of string. No fruit. Growth from both right and left cane.5/5/11: Two canes from base, attached string to try and train vine to first wire. Canes are about 13". Observed 2-3 buds near the lower part of the canes.
Plant 2: Cayuga
8/21/11: Similar to 1 but has growth up to the wire. Very top leaves were fine but mid leaves were eaten through. The stick for the ground was broken and didn't provide any support. The back cane was the one with the most growth, right cane was 2nd, the left cane had very little. 5/5/11: 3 canes from the base, attached with string to try and train to first wire. Canes between 7-13", 2 buds at base of plant and about 5-6 buds total.
Plant 3-5: Cayuga
8/21/11: Still no vines visible. Considered dead.
Plant 6
8/21/11: Nothing developed... root was still visible but no growth at all.5/5/11: Nothing but some visible root. Attached with string to indicate location of vine with wood stick. Would be surprised if anything comes from this.
Plant 7-8
8/21/11: Still no vines visible. Considered dead.Plant 9
8/21/11: Growth made it just past the middle wire! Thin shoot with spots on the shoot and leaves (like the others). Proud of the little guy!

Left base looks dead, growth is from the right. |
5/5/11: Appears to be two separate set of vines, each with 2 canes and buds. Height about 11". Attached with string and stick to try and train up to first wire.
Plant 10
8/21/11: Hard to identify which root has the growth. Though appears to be the rightmost shoot. Grew just short of the wire. 5/5/11: Looks like good root with one long shoot and one short. Attached string with stick to try and train to first wire. Large shoot looks from last year and may have died over winter. `
Plant 11
8/21/11: Looks like there are two growths, main root is back and left, with a smaller root and growth more front and right. The last year shoot did nothing.5/5/11: Last year's shoot made it all the way past first wire. There are smaller new shoots coming from the base. There is string and wooden stake to train the plant.
Plant 12
8/21/11: Smaller growth but still development. Seemed thin throughout. Vine twisted over itself to the right and never used the string for support or reach. There was a dead stalk next to the grown one which make it about 1/2 way up. 5/5/11: Small cane coming up. Appears healthy, approx 14". Approx 3-4 buds. Attached with string to train to first wire.
Plant 13
8/21/11: Developing vine with growth from different root in addition to the main. Growth just got shy of the middle wire with the last few leaves brown and eaten through... typical of this row.5/5/11: Approx 3 canes from the root of the plant. Good buds appearing. Training with string to first wire. 2 larger canes about 13", one smaller about 7"
Plant 14-16
8/21/11: No vines visible... wait! Who's that?
